A new study has found that the number of trees larger than two feet in diameter has decreased by 50 percent throughout 46,000 square miles of California forests. While it’s convenient to blame logging and housing for their disappearance, the truth is that water shortages and climate change might be the real culprit. Kentucky will use bloodhounds to help prevent wildfires. For the second year in a row, Kentucky will use bloodhounds to catch arsonists during the fall wildfire season that runs from October 1 through December 15. Teaming up with the Kentucky State Police arson investigators and their specially trained bloodhounds, the Kentucky Division of Forestry hopes to curtail human-started wildfires with rigorous investigation.
