New Galaxy Giraffe ND Telehandler Tire from Alliance Tire Features Low Aspect Ratio

ATG Introduces the New Galaxy Giraffe ND Tire

The new Galaxy Giraffe ND brings a sleek, low aspect ratio and deep, non-directional block tread pattern to Alliance Tire Americas Inc.'s telehandler tire line. The result is an extremely high-efficiency tire that delivers outstanding performance on and off paved job sites, says Ryan Lopes, National Product Manager, Materials Handling and Solid Tires for Alliance Tire Americas.

"The Galaxy Giraffe ND is designed for 28-inch rims, though the low aspect ratio of the tire means that it easily replaces the 13.00-24 and 14.00-24 sizes we commonly see on telehandlers," he explains. "That low aspect ratio allows us to create a lower, sturdier sidewall for extra stability, and reduces the volume of the tire, which saves money for owners who foam-fill their telehandler tires.

Telehandlers: More Than Just An All-Terrain Forklift

Over the years, the telehandler has emerged as a highly versatile machine that many farmers and construction companies now find indispensable. Developed by the Matbro company at Horley in Surrey, England, in the early 1980s, the telehandler was initially conceived as an articulated cross-country forklift for use in forestry applications. Despite the telehandler’s decades of wide use and popularity in Europe, the telehandler is finally making inroads into the U.S. agriculture and construction markets.

El Niño's Impact on California Contractors

A warm patch of ocean has filled reservoirs and flooded cities this year...and now it's helping keep construction contractors busy across the Southwest. The warmer waters of the western Pacific Ocean flowing eastward and displacing the cooler surface water typically found in the eastern Pacific cause the weather occurrence known as El Niño. This weather event usually brings with it a shift in North America’s traditional weather patterns—most notably bringing wet weather to California, the Southwest, and the Southeast, while the North and Northeast typically experience a milder winter. Even though El Niño affects the entire country, the weather’s impact has been most felt by the people of California and Texas.

In recent years, Telehandlers have risen to become one of the most important tools in any construction company's arsenal. More versatile and adaptable than a forklift, but compact and able to go where cranes can’t, the demand is only going to rise for telehandlers.
